Woman, 2 children die by suicide in Tirupati district

Vijayawada: A woman and her two young children died by suicide after jumping into a well in Sullurpeta town, Tirupati district, on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Uggumudi Varalaxmi (24), a resident of Harijanawada in Uggumudi village, and her sons Varshith (4) and Prashanth (2).

Varalaxmi left home with her children around 10 am and did not return. After an extensive search, family members alerted neighbours and local police.

Around 4:45 pm, villagers spotted one of the children's bodies floating in a well located in nearby agricultural fields. Police rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies of Varalaxmi and her children.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that Varalaxmi had been facing domestic disputes with her husband. The couple had been married for eight years, and police suspect that ongoing family issues may have led to the tragedy.

The bodies were shifted for postmortem examination. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
