Youth held for raping minor in Jajpur dist
Kendrapada: A 24-year-old youth in Jajpur district was arrested on Sunday for raping a 17-year-old girl multiple times on the pretext of marriage. The survivor lodged an FIR on Saturday against the accused and alleged that for the last four days he had sexually exploited her in a hotel in Puri after promising to marry her, before reneging on his promise.
Acting on the FIR, police launched an investigation and arrested the accused under various sections of BNS and Section 6 of the Pocso Act, said investigation officer Ashis Kumar Sahoo. The accused was produced in a Jajpur court on Sunday. The court rejected his bail application and remanded him to jail custody.
