Zack Polanski cannot believe his luck - what he's just done to Britain is terrifying

Mad Zack is exactly the kind of figure who emerges in periods of political volatility. Slick, glib, opportunistic, with that unmistakable glint in his eyes. He's an attention seeker, who's suddenly getting all the attention he ever wanted. When the political landscape shifts, chancers like this seize their moment.

He's already upended British politics and he's only just getting started.

Keir Starmer knows it. Polanski is a knife in the heart of the Labour Party, and now he's twisting it. He may be a vegan, but he's serving raw red meat to left-wing activists, with a radical policy menu beyond their wildest dreams. While much of the country is furious at Starmer for pursuing the most left-wing agenda in our history, Labour's grassroots think he's an establishment sellout.

They want more tax, more spending, more borrowing. Staying out of the Iran conflict isn't enough for the Greens. The only country they want to punish is Israel.

Thanks to Polanski, Labour will feel obliged to become even more left-wing, to stop even more of its voters drifting away. And we'll all pay the price.

Long-term Green Party members don't know what's hit them. Now they're urgently warning us against Polanski, but it's too late. He's running the show now.

Since September, party membership has surged from 68,000 to more than 200,000, making it the third-largest party by membership. But this is not a new movement. It's a recycled one. They're the same hard-left cranks and activists who flooded into Labour under leftie hero Jeremy Corbyn.

It's the usual placard-waving, pink-haired rattle, but even angrier than before. They're angry about Starmer. Angry about the wealthy. Angry about gender politics. And they're really, really angry about Israel.

Many can't stop themselves, and tip into outright antisemitism. It's a terrifying time for our country.

Starmer tried to purge this faction from Labour. Now they're plotting their revenge. Labour isn't worried about Nigel Farage anymore. Zack is the man who terrifies them. He should terrify the rest of us too.

Polanski isn't constrained by power. He doesn't have to govern, so he can escalate. He feels free to slight two unarmed police officers who put their lives on the line tackling a knife-wielding fanatic in Golders Green, knowing his base will love him for it.

Why hold back? We live in divisive times, and being divisive is working out very nicely for him.

The Green Party's political programme is insane. Quit Nato, ditch our nuclear deterrent, make friends with Vladimir Putin, throw open UK borders, ban North Sea drilling, legalise drugs, rejoin the EU, hand everyone a basic universal income and nationalise everything in sight.

Even a sniff of that agenda would push the UK to the brink, and trigger an outright bond market crisis.

Polanski doesn't care. He's driving the UK towards a cliff, and loving every minute of it.
