Bizarre: Kent Brings in Faith Healer to Remove 'Evil Spirits' After Poor County Run
There have been some strange occurrences in cricket over the years but a recent one in England has surprised fans. A report states that Kent have brought in a faith healer to aid their on going difficulties.
County side Kent have not had the best of times in recent years. They finished at the bottom of Division Two in the County Championship for the last two years running and as well as this had suffered a number of injuries in recent seasons.
Hollioake Reveals Unusual Decision
Former England international Adam Hollioake has shed light on the incident.
Hollioake told The Cricketer
"We got a faith healer in over the winter, or a spirit healer. I'm not sure what the exact title was, but we got someone to ward off the evil spirits."
The comments quickly drew the attention of supporters as such decisions were highly unusual for professional sports but it followed two terrible years for the county in all competitions and had seen the team have a number of injuries.

Club Statement on Faith Healer Visit
Kent Cricket released an official statement explaining the situation. They confirmed a visit but claimed that professional means are their main focus.
“Kent Cricket can confirm that a non-denominational geopathic surveyor visited the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury during the winter. This visit was conducted to support the promotion of positive well-being ahead of the new season.
The club fully respects the diverse range of personal beliefs held by its players, staff, members and supporters. Kent Cricket remains focused on preparing its men’s and women’s squads for the upcoming season through existing evidence-based performance and medical programmes.
The club’s approach to player welfare and injury prevention remains firmly rooted in professional sports science, including its strength and conditioning programmes, medical support, physiotherapy and carefully managed training."
It seems clear the club did allow a spiritual visit but believe modern science still plays a larger part.
Kent will now be looking to improve this season in what will be a crucial year for the club after two poor ones. Whether this tactic helps remains to be seen but one things is for sure it has been a talking point within county cricket circles.
