Suyash Sharma Copies Shubman Gill's Signature Celebration After Dismissing GT Skipper
The RCB vs GT match at IPL 2026 built up tensions because Suyash Sharma delivered his explosive farewell to Shubman Gill whom he had just dismissed during the first innings. RCB decided to bowl first after they won the toss. Phil Salt was ruled out due to injury, and Jacob Bethell came in as his replacement. The home side faced difficulties because the GT openers started their batting attack from the first ball.
Sai Sudharsan scored his first century of the IPL 2026 season while he and Shubman Gill created a 128-run partnership at the start of their match. Sudharsan played aggressively while the Gujarat Titans captain took a supporting role until Suyash Sharma ended his time at the batting crease.
The delivery required perfect execution for batsman Shubman Gill. Gill attempted an aggressive shot but he swung the bat at an incorrect time. The ball flew straight to Devdutt Padikkal who completed an easy catch. After Padikkal caught the ball Suyash Sharma displayed energetic behavior as he imitated Gill's hat-off celebration to send Gill out of the field. The GT skipper chose to remain silent as he walked back to the dressing room.
Gill lost his wicket after scoring 32 runs from 24 balls which showed he batted well but he failed to deliver the major performance that Gujarat Titans required from him at a batting-friendly pitch. Shubman Gill has maintained strong batting form during IPL 2026. His six matches this season resulted in 297 runs which he achieved with an average of 49.50 and a strike rate of 149.24. He currently holds the third position in the Orange Cap race.
Gill needs this phase to prove his worth after he failed to secure a position in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad due to his uneven performance record. Before this match, Gill carried most of the batting responsibility for his side. Sai Sudharsan found his rhythm, which allows him to enter the second part of the tournament after scoring a century.
