"Wait hi nhi ho rha tha", Shivam Dube reveals reasons behind taking a train back to home from Ahmedabad

Newspoint

The Indian cricketer Shivam Dube's little stunt of taking an early morning train became viral while he had to come back to Mumbai from Ahmedabad right after winning the 2026 T20 World Cup Trophy. Dube, a father of two, and having his father back in home, expressed that he was anxious to meet them as soon as possible.

Well, he previously clarified that he couldn't find a flight at that time because all flights were booked. So the train became a viable option, and he booked three AC tickets, the other two for his wife, Anjum Khan, and a friend of his. Later in an event, he shared that he was having anxiety about meeting his family. He said,

"Ghar jaake mujhe apne bachche aur apne papa se milne ki kaafi anxiety ho rahi thi... isliye main subah-subah ghar chala aaya. Wait, hi nahi ho raha tha (I was feeling anxious to meet my child and my father at home... that is why I left early in the morning. I just could not wait."

How did Shivam Dube board the train?

The morning train was a strategic move to avoid the crowd. He had a little plan with his wife where he decided to arrive five minutes before the train arrived, so that he could simply hop in. He said,

"Everyone we spoke to-family and friends-was worried. They kept asking, 'What if someone recognises you at the station or on the train. I told my wife I would wait in the car until five minutes before the train's departure, then rush to board."

He was dressed in an all-black full-sleeved tee shirt and wore a mask to avoid the crowd. He,, however, had informed the police in Mumbai on his arrival, who too were shocked to know him taking the railways.

Even at one point, Dube was almost caught by a TTE, but his wife cunningly dodged it by denying his presence.
