89 people of Indian origin named in US 'worst of the worst' criminal list

As many as 89 people of Indian origin feature on a new United States government list that highlights the “Worst of the Worst” criminal offenders, according to information released by the Department of Homeland Security ( DHS). The list is part of a public database launched during President Donald Trump’s ongoing immigration enforcement drive and includes details of around 25,000 criminal illegal aliens arrested and convicted in the US.

The database has been created by the US Department of Homeland Security and is available publicly. It carries names, photographs, nationalities and details of crimes committed by individuals arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The offences listed include murder, sexual crimes and drug trafficking.

In a social media post, the Department of Homeland Security said the website was launched “so Americans can see the criminal illegal aliens we are arresting, their crimes, and the communities we removed them from.” The department said the database contains information on 25,000 individuals who have been arrested so far.

“This is just a SNAPSHOT of the criminal illegal aliens taken off the streets under the Trump Administration,” the DHS said in its post. It added, “These are the monsters who have terrorised our communities. We are not stopping until every single one of these people are GONE. Americans should not be victimised by people who aren't even legally allowed to inhabit our nation.”

The move is part of President Trump’s renewed focus on immigration enforcement. During his election campaign, Trump had promised strict action against illegal immigration. On his first day of his second term, he signed executive orders declaring a national emergency at the southern US border. The orders included deploying more troops and accelerating the deportation of what the administration calls “criminal aliens.”

The Department of Homeland Security has said that under its current leadership, officers from DHS and ICE are implementing the President’s plan. It said they are carrying out mass deportations starting with “the worst of the worst,” referring to the individuals listed in the database.

At the same time, immigration enforcement actions in several US states have led to violent incidents, triggering criticism from Democrats and some Republicans. Senate Democrats have stalled funding for the Department of Homeland Security, pressing for reforms in ICE and CBP operations. Their demands include compulsory body cameras and visible identification for federal officers.

The administration has so far refused to accept demands that immigration enforcement officers should not wear masks during operations. The debate over immigration enforcement methods continues as the Trump administration pushes ahead with its crackdown.
