CLAT 2026 for UG, PG exams tomorrow: What students must know before entering the exam hall
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026, the national-level entrance test for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes at 24 National Law Universities, will be conducted tomorrow, December 7, 2025. The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has issued a comprehensive set of exam-day instructions that all candidates must follow to ensure smooth entry into the examination centre. With high competition expected this year, authorities have also tightened verification and security procedures.
CLAT 2026 admit card and verification rulesCandidates must carry a printed copy of the CLAT 2026 admit card downloaded from the Consortium’s official portal. The document must be presented during both the initial gate check and the final verification inside the hall.
Exam timing, reporting schedule and entry regulationsThe exam will be held in a two-hour window, strictly from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The Consortium has instructed candidates to reach the test centre at least one hour before the reporting time, considering security checks and seating arrangements.
CLAT 2026 UG and PG exam pattern: Marking scheme and structureBoth UG and PG candidates will answer 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

Items allowed inside the examination hallCandidates may carry only the following items:
Items banned at the exam centreAuthorities have reiterated that the following items will not be allowed:
- If the photograph on the admit card is unclear, blurred or faded, candidates must carry an additional self-attested passport-size photograph.
- Along with the admit card, students must produce one original government-issued ID, such as:
- Aadhaar card
- Passport
- Voter ID
- PAN card
- Driving licence
The Consortium has instructed candidates to reach the test centre at least one hour before the reporting time, considering security checks and seating arrangements.
- Gate closing time: 2:15 PM
- No candidate will be permitted entry after this cut-off, even if they are waiting at the centre.
- Biometric attendance and document verification will take place before candidates proceed to their allotted rooms.
Undergraduate (UG) CLAT 2026
- Total questions: 120
- Sections include English, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Techniques
- Marking: +1 for correct response; –0.25 for incorrect answer
- Total questions: 120
- Based on core law subjects: Constitution, Contracts, Jurisprudence, IPC, Torts, and more
- Same marking scheme as UG
