Uttar Pradesh: Schools Shut in Many Districts

In Uttar Pradesh, the cold wave has forced authorities to extend winter holidays in several districts.
  • Lucknow: Schools up to Class 8 remain closed due to fog and cold.
  • Kanpur Nagar & Kanpur Dehat: Junior classes closed; senior classes follow revised timings.
  • Noida (Gautam Buddh Nagar): Classes 1-8 closed; Classes 9-12 operating on a hybrid schedule.
  • Meerut, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar: Primary and middle schools remain closed temporarily.
  • Varanasi: Classes up to 8 closed until January 9.
  • Prayagraj & Ayodhya: Junior classes remain closed.

Punjab: Holidays Extended

Punjab, which had already declared holidays from January 1-7 due to dropping temperatures, has now extended them until January 13. Districts like Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, and Mohali are being closely monitored for further advisories.

Telangana: Festival & Weather Closure

Schools across Telangana will remain closed until January 16, 2026. The break applies to all government, private, and aided schools, covering major festivals like Bhogi, Sankranthi, and Kanuma. Schools are scheduled to reopen on January 17.


Varanasi & Ghazipur: Fog Disrupts Classes

Dense fog has affected northern districts as well:
  • Varanasi: Pre-primary to Class 8 closed from January 7-9.
  • Ghazipur: Classes 1-8 closed January 6-10; Classes 9-12 running for limited hours.

Bihar: Schools Up to Class 8 Remain Closed

Cold conditions continue to affect schools in Bihar:
Rohtas & Kishanganj: Classes up to 8 closed until January 9.
Katihar: Schools up to Class 8 closed until January 10.

With temperatures expected to remain low, parents and students are advised to stay updated with local announcements. Schools are taking measures to ensure safety while trying to minimize disruption to academics.
