The application process is simple and fully online for most students. Parents and guardians can visit the official website and click on the “Govt School Admissions” section to begin registration. However, it is important to keep track of the timelines, as the process will be conducted in three separate phases.

The first phase is currently active and will close on April 7. Those who miss this window can apply during the second phase, scheduled from April 30 to May 25. A third and final phase will be held from July 1 to July 25, ensuring that more students get a fair chance to apply.

For eligibility, students applying to Classes 6 to 9 must have been promoted from their previous class. This ensures continuity in learning and smooth transition into the next grade. At the same time, the system also accommodates children who are currently out of school. Such students can directly approach their nearest government school and complete the registration process offline.

Children aged between 10 and 14 who have not been attending school will undergo a basic assessment focused on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy. This evaluation helps schools understand the child’s current learning level and place them in the most suitable class. It is a supportive step aimed at helping students re-enter the education system without pressure.

Applicants should note that only residents of Delhi are eligible under this admission category. Proper address details and relevant documents may be required to confirm residency during the admission process.

While filling out the application form, parents must provide essential information such as the student’s full name, parents’ names, date of birth, residential address, and details of the last school attended, if applicable. Although Aadhaar number and bank account details are not mandatory, submitting them can make future processes smoother. A valid mobile number is compulsory, as all important updates and communication will be shared through it.

The Directorate of Education has also clearly defined the age criteria as of March 31, 2026.

  • For Class 6, the child should be between 10 and 12 years old.
  • For Class 7, the age limit is 11 to 13 years.
  • For Class 8, it is 12 to 14 years
  • For Class 9, students must fall within the 13 to 15 years age range

These limits are strict, with no relaxation provided.

With multiple phases and flexible options for both in-school and out-of-school children, the admission process aims to be inclusive and accessible. Parents are advised to carefully check all eligibility conditions, keep documents ready, and complete the application within the given deadlines to avoid missing this opportunity.
