Iran war leads to cancellation of 12 international flights from Chennai; flyer advisory issued
Flight schedules at Chennai International Airport have faced disruptions in the wake of escalating tensions in the Middle East led to widespread cancellations, with as many as 12 flights operated by multiple airlines to various international destinations called off, news agency PTI reported quoting airport authorities on February 28.
The airport issued an advisory asking passengers travelling overseas, particularly through Middle Eastern hubs, to check with their respective airlines before proceeding with their journeys.

According to airport officials, 12 flights scheduled for later in the day and on Sunday have been cancelled. Services operated by Oman Air, Akasa Air, Air India Express, IndiGo and Gulf Air to destinations including Dubai, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi have been affected.
In a subsequent update, the airport said flights operated by Etihad Airways and Emirates scheduled for Saturday (February 28) and Sunday (March 1) have also been cancelled.
The airport attributed the disruption to airspace closures over parts of the Middle East, noting that select international services could face delays or be rerouted. Passengers have been advised to stay in touch with their airlines for the latest updates.
The cancellations follow a sharp escalation in the region after the US and Israel launched a major attack on Iran on Saturday. Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and also hit US military installations in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar.
