Kuwait announces visa relief for stranded Indians amid Iran war
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has announced temporary visa relief measures amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia.
In a post on X, the Embassy of India in Kuwait said the Kuwaiti authorities have introduced automatic relief measures that will be implemented electronically and will be exempt from related fees and fines.
According to the announcement, visit visas will receive an automatic extension of one month. In addition, residents who are currently outside Kuwait will be granted an additional three-month absence period without facing penalties.

The embassy said the measures are expected to benefit several Indian nationals who may be stranded outside Kuwait or facing visa-related issues due to the prevailing situation. The relief will allow affected visitors and residents additional time to regularise their travel and residency status.
The visa relief comes amid escalating conflict in West Asia. Iran has been carrying out strikes targeting several locations in the Gulf region following joint military action against it by Israel and the United States. In response, the US and Israel have also launched fresh strikes on Iranian targets.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Kuwait’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, and condemned the violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We underscored the significance of dialogue and diplomacy in restoring regional peace and stability. Appreciated the Kuwaiti leadership’s continued support to ensure the safety and well-being of the Indian community in Kuwait,” Modi said in a post on social media.
More than one million Indian nationals are believed to be living and working in Kuwait, making them one of the largest expatriate communities in the country.
