Rs 116 crore spent on 832 schools in Telangana under PM SHRI: Union Minister
Hyderabad: As many as 832 schools have been selected in Telangana under the PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) program as of March 25 this year and Rs 116.06 crore have been utilised, including central and state funds, Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary said in the Lok Sabha.
He was replying to a question raised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Mahabubnagar DK Aruna.
Out of the 832 schools, 38 are central government schools – 29 Kendriya Vidyalayas and nine Navodaya Vidyalayas.
The PM SHRI scheme aims to saturate schools across the country with components of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and make them a benchmark for other schools.

Telangana has 794 PM SHRI schools: Union ministerUnder the scheme, schools are provided with computer labs, information and communications technology (ICT) labs and smart classrooms, libraries, internet facilities, vocational skill education, guidance and career counselling, a fully equipped science lab and a playground with well-equipped sports facilities.
Initiatives such as 10 bagless days, a school innovation council, youth and eco clubs, building as learning aid (BaLa) features, etc, are also a part of the scheme.
These components have been implemented in 91 per cent of the PM SHRI schools, the minister said.
Along with infrastructure, the government also aims to strengthen teacher training through District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs). Principals are trained in leadership and management, while teachers are trained on school safety and security, mental health and wellbeing and integration of ICT in teaching-learning.
