55th Kerala Film Awards 2024: Mammootty And Shamla Hamza Win Big, Premalu Becomes Audience Favourite
The much-awaited 55th Kerala State Film Awards 2024 were announced on Monday by Minister for Culture and Films, Saji Cherian. A seven-member jury led by actor Prakash Raj evaluated a total of 38 films this year. Each screening was followed by extensive discussions to ensure a fair and thorough assessment, with the jury watching up to five films a day.
Originally scheduled for October 31, the awards announcement was delayed due to pending film screenings and a special session of the Legislative Assembly. The jury, known for its rigorous evaluation, has honoured some of the finest performances, direction, and technical excellence in Malayalam cinema.

Special Jury Award for Women/Transgender People: Payal Kapadia
The Prakash Raj-led jury has been praised for its meticulous approach, honouring a mix of veterans and emerging talent. With Mammootty and Shamla Hamza taking the top acting honours and Premalu recognised as the most popular film, the awards celebrate the best of Malayalam cinema this year.
