After Dhurandhar’s Success, Will Akshaye Khanna Return to Race 4? Producer Responds
Following the massive success of Dhurandhar, curiosity around Akshaye Khanna’s upcoming projects has intensified. Among the most widely discussed rumours was the possibility of the actor returning to the Race franchise with its fourth instalment, Race 4, which is currently under development.
Akshaye Khanna had played the antagonist in Race (2008), and speculation suggested that he might reunite with Saif Ali Khan, who was also part of the original film. However, producer Ramesh Taurani has firmly dismissed these claims, putting an end to the ongoing buzz around the Race 4 cast.
Speaking to HT City, Taurani clarified, “No, we have not approached Akshaye. There was no scope at all.” Addressing whether the makers considered altering the storyline to accommodate the actor, he added, “There is no thought about getting him. His character gets into an accident in the first movie, his track ended there, and it will remain at that.”
Race 4 Cast Yet to Be Finalised
Apart from Akshaye Khanna, rumours had also hinted at the possible return of Saif Ali Khan or the inclusion of Sidharth Malhotra in a leading role. Taurani denied these reports as well, stating, “No cast has been finalised till now. The work on the script is on.”
Over the years, the Race film franchise has undergone several casting changes. While Race 2 (2013) introduced John Abraham as the antagonist, Race 3 (2018) saw Salman Khan replacing Saif Ali Khan as the lead.
Meanwhile, Akshaye Khanna continues to enjoy the unprecedented success of Dhurandhar, which has collected ₹871.90 crore at the domestic box office and continues its strong run. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles alongside Khanna.
