5 Anime Side Characters Too Perfect For The Side Role

Among anime fans, it is pretty common for them to watch a show where one character stands out over the rest. While many assume that this would automatically be the main character, sometimes to the fan’s surprise it might be the side characters. While the main character is where the plot carries forward with, it is the side characters where the real intrigue shows. So here are the top anime side characters

Levi Ackerman (Attack On Titans)

Levi is easily one of the most iconic anime characters of the last decade, despite being on the sidelines in attack on titans. His first appearance is shown through Eren’s point of view, though he was later formally introduced as Captain Levi of the survey corps. Having grown up in the slums of Underground city, Levi’s early life was characterized by struggle and survival until he was recruited by Erwin Smith to join the corps.

Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)

It’s probably no shock that Satoru Gojo is on this list. Gojo is another side character that’s visually linked to Jujutsu Kaisen just as much as the show’s protagonist, Itadori Yuji. The scale of Gojo’s power and prowess in fighting has earned him a special place in the hearts of many anime fans. There’s a reason he’s nicknamed the ‘Strongest Sorcerer’ and the ‘Honored One’ (self-dubbed, but still accurate nonetheless). You don’t have to like Gojo to admit he boosted Jujutsu Kaisen’s status among a wide field of shonen anime with his fight scenes alone.

Itachi Uchiha (Naruto)

Naruto is known for its large cast of memorable characters that stand out due to tragic backstories, unique powers and intriguing arcs. However, Itachi stands out amongst them too. For starters he had to slaughter his entire clan to save his younger brother and Konoha village along with being known as a villain for doing this.

Killua Zoldyck (Hunter x Hunter)

He is the best friend of the main protagonist in Hunter x Hunter, Gon Freecss. He was born into the Zoldyck Family, known for being renowned assassins. Killua began his assassin training at the age of just three years old and had already killed a large number of people when he was first introduced in the show. At 11, Killua runs away from home to take the Hunter Exam, which is where he meets Gon and makes friends that inspire his characteristic loyalty and kindness. His dual nature is what attracts so many fans

Roy Mustang (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Mustang is likely the only character as recognisable in the series as Edward Elrich.Colonel Mustang is a State Alchemist, mentor to protagonist Edward, and a revered higher-up in the Amestrian State Military. His personality is often noted as egocentric, brash, and shallow, with a history of womanizing; while these observations aren’t entirely untrue, they’re used as a cover to hide Roy’s ambition to become the next leader of Amestris. Roy’s internal drive to bring justice and prosperity to his country after the last war lies at the core of his true goals and desires.
