Sharing his admiration for the Hollywood icon, Kher reflected on Duvall’s ability to bring “extraordinary depth” to every role he undertook, from the meticulous calm of Tom Hagen in The Godfather to the haunting intensity of Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore in Apocalypse Now.

Kher also highlighted Duvall’s Oscar-winning performance in Tender Mercies, a role that revealed rare vulnerability and emotional truth. He noted that films like The Apostle and Lonesome Dove further exemplified Duvall’s fearless commitment to complex, deeply human characters, performances that continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.


In his tribute, Anupam described Duvall as “brilliant without flamboyance, powerful without theatrics,” calling him a masterclass in subtlety whose legacy will continue to “teach, inspire, and endure.” He concluded his message with a respectful farewell: “Rest in grace. Your work will continue to teach, inspire, and endure. Om Shanti!”

Duvall’s remarkable film career spanned more than six decades, beginning with theatre in New York and early roles like Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird. His work influenced multiple generations of actors and filmmakers alike, earning admiration and tributes from around the world following his passing.
