From Bollywood to Buildings: Rimi Sen’s New Life in Dubai Real Estate

In the early 2000s, Rimi Sen became a household name after first grabbing attention in a popular advertisement alongside Aamir Khan. She later cemented her place in Bollywood with successful films such as Hungama, Dhoom, Golmaal, Phir Hera Pheri and Johnny Gaddar. Over time, however, her screen appearances became fewer, and the actor gradually stepped away from the limelight.

Now, Rimi Sen is back in the headlines, but for a very different reason. The former Bollywood actor has transitioned into the real estate business in Dubai and is steadily carving out a space for herself in what she describes as a highly structured and disciplined market.

In a recent conversation with Buildcaps Real Estate LLC, Rimi spoke about what drew her to Dubai professionally. Calling the city “very welcoming,” she noted that nearly 95 per cent of Dubai’s population comprises expatriates. She highlighted the city’s inclusivity, pointing out the presence of both mosques and temples, and added that Dubai consistently focuses on making life easier and more comfortable for its residents.

Drawing a comparison with India, Rimi remarked that frequent policy changes, multiple taxes, and complications make it harder for businesses to function smoothly. In contrast, she said Dubai’s real estate sector works efficiently because of a clear system and strict discipline. “The real estate market here functions smoothly because there is discipline,” she said, explaining that agents, agencies, and developers each have clearly defined roles.

Rimi also addressed the difference in how real estate agents are perceived in India versus Dubai. According to her, agents in Dubai are treated on par with financial consultants, while in India, even asking for standard brokerage fees is often met with resistance.

Apart from her career shift, Rimi Sen had made headlines two years ago for her changed appearance in social media pictures. Responding to speculation around plastic surgery, she clarified in an interview that she had only opted for fillers, Botox and PRP treatment. She added that discipline and regular maintenance play a crucial role in looking good, and responded to trolls by saying that constructive feedback could be shared with her doctors if anyone felt something appeared off.

Rimi Sen’s last film appearance was in 2011 in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s action film Shagird. More than a decade later, her journey from Bollywood stardom to Dubai’s real estate market reflects a significant and conscious reinvention, highlighting a new chapter in her professional life.
