Esha Gupta Describes Being Stranded in Abu Dhabi Amid Middle East Tensions, Thanks UAE Authorities

Bollywood actress Esha Gupta has shared a personal update from Abu Dhabi, where she is currently stranded due to travel disruption caused by the escalating conflict in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel and Iran. In a series of Instagram Stories, she described the situation around her as “scary” and “very tough,” while also reassuring fans and followers that she and those with her are safe despite the uncertainty.

The conflict intensified after coordinated military action by the United States and Israel against Iranian military targets, leading to swift retaliation from Iran and rising tensions across the region. These developments have resulted in widespread flight cancellations and airspace closures, leaving thousands of travellers, including Esha, navigating unexpected disruption and extended stays in Gulf countries.

In her message, Esha thanked the UAE authorities for the way they have handled the situation, saying that the local government has been doing an “incredible job” in looking after stranded passengers. She noted that officials have been providing essentials like food, transport and accommodation for people who are unable to return home due to suspended flights. Her acknowledgement of the efforts by the UAE administration highlighted the crisis response from the host country amid a rapidly changing security context.

While apologising to fans for not replying promptly to messages and calls, she asked for understanding, explaining that managing communication in the midst of such conditions has been challenging. Esha also expressed support for everyone affected, saying she is praying for the safety of other travellers and those impacted by the wider conflict. She ended her note by sharing her hope of being able to return to India once normal flight operations resume.

Several other Indian celebrities are also reported to be stranded in the region amid the ongoing tensions. Actress Sonal Chauhan, who is in Dubai, took to social media seeking assistance from the Indian government as flights were delayed and cancelled, while other public figures and athletes have issued updates about their situations amid the travel chaos.

Air travel disruptions have been significant in the Gulf, with closures affecting major hubs like Dubai International Airport and flights across the region. Airlines including Air India and IndiGo have been advising passengers to stay updated with official information and have said they will work to resume services once it is safe to do so.

Esha’s experience underscores the impact that geo-political conflict can have on ordinary travellers, even those visiting for leisure or work. Her public update offered both a human perspective on the stress of being caught in an international crisis and a message of gratitude towards the team supporting stranded passengers in the UAE.
