Hema Malini Clarifies Why Separate Prayer Meets Were Held For Dharmendra
After the death of legendary actor Dharmendra on November 24, 2025, the focus briefly shifted from remembrance to speculation, as separate prayer meetings organised by his family sparked talk of a possible rift. Hema Malini has now spoken out to clarify the situation.
Around the same time, Hema Malini hosted separate prayer meetings one at her Mumbai residence, another in Delhi, and a third in Mathura, her parliamentary constituency. The multiple gatherings became a talking point on social media and in film circles.
Hema Malini Explains Her Decision
In a conversation with Times Of India, Hema Malini explained the reasoning behind the separate prayer meets and stressed that the decision was personal and mutual.
“Yeh humare ghar ka personal mamla hai. We talked to each other. I kept one prayer meet at my home because my group of people are different. Then, I kept one in Delhi because I am in politics, and it was important for me to keep a prayer meeting there for my friends from that field. Mathura is my constituency, and the people there are mad about him. So, I kept a prayer meeting there as well. I am happy with what I did," she said.
Denies Rift With Prakash Kaur And Sunny Deol
Hema Malini also firmly dismissed rumours of any discord between her and Dharmendra’s first family. Addressing concerns about the two families drifting apart, she said,
“Everything is happening in a nice way. So there’s no need to worry ki yeh do alag families hai, pata nahi kya hoga. Kisiko itni fikr karne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Hum log ekdum achche hai."
She added that there is no tension between her, Prakash Kaur, and their children, putting an end to the ongoing speculation.
Dharmendra’s Legacy And The Lonavala Farmhouse
During the interview, Hema Malini was also asked whether Dharmendra’s Lonavala farmhouse could be converted into a memorial or museum for fans. Responding to the idea, she shared that Sunny Deol is already planning to do something meaningful along those lines.
'That Is What Would Make Dharamji Happy'
Hema Malini further revealed that she plans to resume work soon, believing that continuing her professional commitments would honour Dharmendra’s wishes.
“I am resuming my work now. I am heading to Mathura. I will be starting my performances, shows, aur jo jo kaam hai I will continue doing that because that is what would make Dharamji happy," she said.
With her heartfelt clarification, Hema Malini has sought to end speculation and emphasised that respect, understanding, and unity remain intact within the family during this difficult time.
