About The Series

It is a young adult horror television series written by Park Joong-seop and directed by Park Youn-seo. The story revolves around five high school students at Seorin High School who come across an app named “Girigo,” which promises them to fulfill one wish each, but with terrifying consequences.

At first, this idea seems pretty tempting, offering an easy way to fix problems, get what they want, or instantly change their lives. The app requires them to upload a video stating their wish, and once they do, it comes true. However, after fulfilling the wish, the mysterious application begins predicting their sudden death.

This eight-episode series intriguingly transforms people’s deepest desired things into a nightmare. The production of this horror drama was announced in March 2025, and it officially premiered on Netflix on April 24, 2026 under the working title ‘Wish Your Death’. With all eight episodes now released, the show has left viewers intrigued and disturbed.

The Cast And Crew Members

This series features Jeon So-young as Se-ah, a track athlete determined to find out why the app is killing her friends. Kang Mi-na stars as Na-ri, a popular girl who ignores the warnings until the danger becomes impossible to overlook. Baek Sun-ho and Hyun Woo-seok complete the central friend group, with each becoming entangled in the curse as the story unfolds. Adding another layer to the plot, Jeon So-nee appears as a shaman who tries to help the students by bringing a supernatural and traditional element into the show’s modern, tech-driven horror premise. It was also reported in June 2025 that Kim Si-a would make a special appearance in the series.

Is This Series Worth Watching?

If you enjoy stories that revolve around horror and strong psychological concepts, then If Wishes Could Kill is definitely worth watching. Its tagline “Got a wish worth dying for?,” itself highlights the cautionary idea of being careful about what you wish for.

Today’s younger generation is more likely to connect with a series like this because of its modern edge. By showing a smartphone app at the center of the curse, the show beautifully displays today’s culture of instant gratification and digital dependence. Audiences online also seem to enjoy the concept, with clips of this series going viral on social media. While some said that they finished it in one sitting, others described it as fun, creepy, and highly addictive.
