Kartik Aaryan Gives Up ₹15 Crore From Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri Fee After Box Office Debacle: Report
Actors Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri failed to make a strong impact at the box office following its Christmas release. Now, a new report suggests that Kartik Aaryan has taken a significant step by giving up a portion of his remuneration after the film’s underwhelming box-office performance.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Kartik Aaryan has voluntarily waived off ₹15 crore from his fees for the Dharma Productions-backed film. The report quoted reliable industry sources who dismissed rumours of Kartik distancing himself from filmmaker Karan Johar or his talent agency, Dharma Collab Artists Agency (DCAA), calling such claims “baseless”.
“In fact, Kartik extended a gesture of support towards his producer days after the film’s release by waiving off ₹15 crores from his fee,” the report stated.
This is not the first time Kartik Aaryan has stood by his producers following a Bollywood box-office setback. A few years ago, after Shehzada underperformed commercially, the actor gave up a major portion of his remuneration. Shehzada was the official Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramloo, which starred Allu Arjun in the lead role.
In a 2023 interview with ETimes, Kartik Aaryan explained his decision, revealing that he had initially taken his fees for Shehzada but stepped in when the film faced financial challenges. He said he returned almost all of his remuneration, which eventually led to him becoming a co-producer on the film, easing some of the financial burden on the project.
Directed by Sameer Vidwans, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri marked Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s reunion after their 2019 film Pati Patni Aur Woh. The romantic comedy also stars Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta in pivotal roles and is produced by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions.
The film opened to mixed reviews from critics. A Hindustan Times review described it as “a scenic postcard with no message written on the back,” adding that while the veteran actors brought warmth to the narrative, the film fell short on emotional depth. As per Sacnilk, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri collected over ₹32.95 crore in two weeks, marking a disappointing run at the Indian box office.
