Weeks after facing intense online backlash over her latest song Candy Shop , popular singer Neha Kakkar has announced that she is stepping away from the spotlight, at least for now. The singer shared the update through a series of emotional and cryptic Instagram stories, hinting at a complete pause from both her personal and professional life.
In one post, Neha wrote that, "Time to take a break from responsibilities, relationships, work and everything I can think of right now. Not sure if I’ll be back or not. Thank you." Another story carried a heartfelt request to paparazzi and fans, urging them not to film her and to respect her privacy. She wrote, “I request paparazzi and fans not to film me at all. I hope you respect my privacy and let me live freely in this world. No cameras plz! I request! This is the least you all can give me for my peace.”
The announcement comes shortly after the release of Candy Shop, a track created with her brother Tony Kakkar. Released on December 15, 2025, the song quickly went viral and has crossed 23 million views on YouTube. However, along with the numbers came heavy criticism. While some listeners dismissed it as below par, others slammed it for “cringe” choreography, allegedly vulgar lyrics, and even accused it of copying K-pop visuals.
Although Neha has not directly linked her break to the backlash, the timing has sparked speculation that the constant trolling may have played a role in her decision.
