Palash Muchhal Slaps Rs 10 Crore Defamation Case Against Vidnyan Mane, Denies Cheating Allegations
Music composer and singer Palash Muchhal has moved swiftly from controversy to court action after a series of allegations triggered a storm online and in the media. Rejecting the charges outright, Muchhal has filed a ₹10 crore defamation suit, asserting that the claims are baseless and aimed at tarnishing his hard-earned reputation.
The lawsuit has been filed against Marathi actor and producer Vidnyan Mane, who accused Muchhal of cheating him of ₹40 lakh and made allegations about the composer’s personal life. Mane also claimed that Muchhal was unfaithful during his relationship with cricketer Smriti Mandhana. The timing of the allegations drew further attention as Muchhal and Mandhana’s wedding plans were recently called off, placing the composer at the centre of public scrutiny.
Breaking his silence on Saturday evening, Muchhal took to Instagram to confirm that legal proceedings were underway. In his post, he stated, “A legal notice of defamation of ₹10 crore has been sent by my lawyer Shreyansh Mithare to Sangli based Vidnyan Mane for his false, outrageous and highly defamatory accusations made with the deliberate intent to malign my reputation and character."
According to earlier reports by news agency PTI, Vidnyan Mane had approached the police in Maharashtra’s Sangli district with a complaint against Muchhal, alleging financial cheating. However, authorities have confirmed that no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the matter so far.
As per Mane’s complaint, the two first met in Sangli on December 5, 2023. Mane alleged that after he expressed interest in investing in film production, Muchhal persuaded him to invest in an upcoming project titled Nazaria. The composer allegedly promised that an investment of ₹25 lakh would yield profits of ₹12 lakh after the film’s release on OTT platforms, along with offering Mane a role in the project.
The complaint further claimed that Mane paid a total of ₹40 lakh to Muchhal by March 2025 across multiple meetings. However, the film project allegedly did not reach completion. Mane stated that repeated attempts to recover his money went unanswered, prompting him to approach the police. In addition to the financial allegations, Mane also accused Muchhal of cheating on Smriti Mandhana before their wedding plans were called off.
Muchhal has categorically denied all the allegations, maintaining that the accusations were made with “deliberate intent” to damage his personal image and professional standing.
