Ranveer Allahbadia Breaks Silence on India’s Got Latent Backlash, Reveals Who Supported Him

Ranveer Allahbadia, better known online as BeerBiceps, has opened up about one of the most challenging periods of his career - the controversy that erupted after his appearance on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent. In a recent conversation with director Farah Khan for her vlog, Ranveer described the incident as a “kaand”, a term he used to convey how intense and disruptive the backlash was.

The controversy began after a clip from India’s Got Latent - a show featuring comedian Samay Raina and others - went viral. In that episode, Ranveer asked a contestant a controversial question that many viewers found offensive and inappropriate. The remark triggered widespread criticism online and led to multiple FIRs being filed against several participants, with authorities alleging that the content violated norms around decency.

As a result of the uproar, Allahbadia’s podcast The Ranveer Show was temporarily halted, and he was unable to shoot new episodes. In his discussion with Farah Khan, he said the experience was emotionally and professionally difficult, and he struggled with the sudden stoppage of his work. He also shared that he prayed for the chance to return to work and continue his creative projects.

During this low phase, Ranveer said he received support from a handful of well-known personalities. One of the first to check in on him was actor John Abraham, who called personally to offer encouragement. According to Ranveer, John advised him to handle the situation calmly and reminded him that such controversies are part of working in the public eye.

In addition to John Abraham, Ranveer mentioned that other prominent figures reached out to him. They included singer Sonu Nigam and several Indian cricketers such as Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul and Yuzvendra Chahal. Their messages, he said, were comforting and helped him stay focused on moving forward. These supporters shared words of encouragement that ranged from reminding him to “work from failure” to urging perseverance despite setbacks.

Farah Khan herself offered perspective during their talk, telling Ranveer that even difficult professional failures can be turned into learning experiences when handled with the right mindset. Ranveer echoed that sentiment, saying he has tried to forgive himself and others involved as he works toward rebuilding his creative momentum.

The saga surrounding India’s Got Latent was a significant turning point for Allahbadia. Beyond the immediate backlash, legal challenges and public scrutiny affected his content and schedule. However, the support he received from some celebrities and sports personalities provided both emotional reassurance and practical encouragement during a period where social media pressure and media debate were intense.

Looking back, Ranveer acknowledges that the controversy has been a forced break but also an opportunity to reflect and grow. He is now continuing with his podcast and other ventures, carrying forward lessons from the episode and the encouragement of those who stood by him when the storm was at its peak.
