During a conversation on a podcast with entrepreneur and host Raj Shamani, Ghoshal shared her candid views about the trend. She described lip-syncing on stage as “a lazy act”, suggesting that artists who do it may not be putting in enough effort to deliver a genuine live performance.

According to the singer, performing live requires preparation, discipline, and vocal control, which are essential aspects of being a professional artist. She indicated that audiences attend concerts expecting real vocals and emotional connection, something that lip-syncing cannot provide.

Ghoshal also explained that there are different approaches artists take when performing on stage. Some singers focus on maintaining high standards and delivering authentic performances, while others may prioritise spectacle or convenience. However, in her personal opinion, relying heavily on lip-syncing does not represent the spirit of live music.

The remark has sparked discussion among fans and music lovers online, as lip-syncing at large-scale concerts has become increasingly common in the global music industry. Many artists use backing tracks or pre-recorded vocals due to complex choreography or demanding stage productions.

Shreya Ghoshal, who is known for her powerful live singing ability and classical training, has built a reputation for performing without relying on lip-syncing. Her comments have therefore resonated with fans who value authentic live performances.
