Anant Ambani donates Rs 18 crore to two Kerala temples
Mumbai: Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries Limited, visited two prominent temples in Kerala — Taliparamba Rajarajeshwara Temple and Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple — and offered prayers. During his visit, he donated a total of Rs 6 crore, contributing Rs 3 crore each to both temples.
In addition, Ambani announced a financial assistance of Rs 12 crore for the comprehensive renovation of the Rajarajeshwara Temple in Taliparamba.
Ambani visited the historic Rajarajeshwara Temple at around 8 pm on April 2 and performed special puja rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva. He also took part in traditional offerings including Ponnunkudam, Pattam, Taali and Neynamruthu, and performed Ashwamedha Namaskara.
As part of the initial phase of renovation, a cheque of Rs 3 crore was handed over. The total Rs 12 crore contribution will be used for rebuilding the temple’s ancient eastern gopuram, which has been in a dilapidated condition for nearly two centuries.
The renovation plan also includes improved infrastructure and modern parking facilities for devotees.
Temple authorities, including TTK Devaswom President T.P. Vinod Kumar and Chief Priest E.P. Kuberan Namboodiri, welcomed Ambani with traditional honours.
Earlier in the day, at around 5 pm, Ambani visited the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple and offered prayers.
Ambani also announced additional support for the welfare of elephants at Guruvayur through his ‘Vantara’ initiative. The plan includes creating chain-free open shelters, a modern hospital for elephants and advanced scientific care facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambani said that India’s spiritual centres are not just places of worship but also institutions that promote compassion and harmony with nature.
