Annapurna Bhandar: Rs 3000 Benefit For Women. Check If You Are Eligible Or Not.
As the new government in Bengal tries to modify and enhance the various welfare schemes of the previous government’s, one of the most significant evolutions took place of the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme which was reworked into the Annapurna Bhandar scheme.
This scheme was specifically designed to empower women through increased financial independence and offers an increased monthly benefit of rupees 3,000 which will be provided to the beneficiaries via Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) to their Aadhaar-linked bank account . Its launch date is yet to be announced though it is expected to be launched by 1 June, 2026 and is to be implemented across West Bengal.
The Lakshmir Bhandar scheme is a flagship financial assistance program launched by the West Bengal government in 2021 to empower women of the state. It started with providing rupees 1,500 of financial assistance to women of lower income groups. To be eligible, a woman must be a permanent resident of the state, aged between 25 to 60 and should not be a government employee or pensioner. Funds are transferred directly to Aadhar linked bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Its primary objective is to provide financial support to women from lower and middle income families and to promote women’s empowerment. The amount provided in the scheme helps women manage household expenses and support their healthcare needs

Who can apply?
- Must be a woman.
- Be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
- Belong to low-income households or Economically Weaker Section (EWS) families.
- Be within the specified annual income limit.
- Aged above 25 years.
- Ration card holder (BPL/AAY/PHH).
Who is not eligible
- Permanent or retired government employee.
- Not within the specified annual income limit.
- Non-residents of West Bengal.
