Assam Rifles seizes narcotics worth Rs 12.5 crore in Jiribam
Jiribam (Manipur) [India], December 6 (ANI): Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Police and CRPF, seized 50,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 12.5 crores from a vehicle in Jiribam, Manipur and apprehended two individuals on Saturday, Assam Rifles said in a press release on Saturday.
Acting on specific intelligence on drug trafficking, Assam Rifles in Jiribam launched a joint operation with the Police and CRPF on December 6.
The operation underscores the commitment of Assam Rifles in combating NDPS activities and safeguarding the region from the narco menace, Assam Rifles said.
The operations resulted in the apprehension of 11 cadres from various groups and the recovery of 14 weapons, including rifles, pistols, and explosives, as well as illegal contraband and war-like stores.
On November 23, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Imphal West Police Commandos apprehended an active KCP (PWG) cadre from Canchipur, Imphal West.
On November 25, Assam Rifles, during an operation in the general area Shonglung, Kangpokpi district, recovered one Heckler and Koch G3 rifle with magazine, two bolt-action rifles, four Pull mechanism rifles, one Improvised mortar, two Hand Grenades, with detonators, two G3 Live rounds, and one Hand Held Radio set.
