BJP Veteran Leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra Passes Away At 94, PM Modi Pays Tribute

Veteran BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra passed away on Tuesday morning (September 30, 2025) at the age of 94, the party confirmed. He had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS in the days leading up to his death.



"With deep sorrow, we have to inform that senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and the first president of Delhi BJP , Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, passed away this morning," Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva stated.

Mr Sachdeva highlighted Malhotra’s dedication to public service and his lifelong commitment to the party. "His life was an example of simplicity and dedication to public service. Since the days of Jan Sangh, he worked tirelessly to expand the ideology of the Sangh in Delhi," he said.

He further added, "His life has always been, and will continue to be, a source of inspiration for all BJP workers."



Malhotra’s passing coincided with a historic moment for the Delhi BJP, which had received a permanent office at DDU Marg inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (September 29, 2025).


Vijay Kumar Malhotra was a five-time Member of Parliament and a two-time MLA from Delhi, making him a prominent figure in the capital’s political landscape. His leadership spanned decades, shaping the party’s growth and influence in the region.

The party announced that his body will be brought to his official residence at 21 Gurdwara Rakabganj Road around 8:45 a.m., allowing party members and well-wishers to pay their final respects.


Malhotra’s legacy in the BJP, especially in Delhi, is remembered for his unwavering commitment, political acumen, and inspirational public service, leaving a lasting impact on generations of party workers.
