Bengaluru erupted in joy as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their first-ever IPL title in Ahmedabad, ending an 18-year-long wait. Fireworks lit the sky, fans roared with celebration, and emotions ran high – both on and off the field.
But amid the celebrations, it was fugitive businessman and RCB’s ex-owner Vijay Mallya who unexpectedly grabbed the spotlight.
Mallya took to X to post, “RCB are IPL Champions finally after 18 years... Ee sala cup named,” sparking an instant wave of memes and trolling from netizens.
The internet had a field day.
From cheeky remarks urging him to “visit SBI’s Kirti Nagar branch” to jabs about returning money from the “winning amount,” users were relentless in their sarcasm.
One particular post, however, took social media by storm - an image allegedly showing SBI’s own reply to Mallya’s tweet: “Sir, come to India . We will celebrate together.”

Shared by businessman Harsh Goenka , the screengrab instantly went viral, with users calling it “savage” and quipping, “SBI got no chill.”
But there’s a catch.
The ‘response’ was nowhere to be found under Mallya’s tweet. When questioned, AI bot Grok clarified that there was no verified record of such a reply from the bank, suggesting it was likely a meme – and not in line with SBI’s usual communication tone.
Mallya, who is facing charges related to a ₹9,000 crore loan default involving an SBI-led bank consortium, later shared another post reminiscing about his role in RCB’s early journey. He wrote about picking a young Virat Kohli, calling it a dream to bring the IPL trophy to Bengaluru someday – a dream that finally came true in 2025.
RCB’s long-awaited win may have brought closure to their fans, but Mallya’s tweet opened the floodgates of online humour – reminding everyone that in India, cricket and memes are never too far apart.
