The cyclone is currently positioned over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, around 50 km from the Tamil Nadu coast. A red alert remains in force across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh.

Chennai and several districts including Thanjavur, Trichy, Salem, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Ranipet can also expect heavy downpours through the day.

Impact on Andhra Pradesh

Parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are also likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, prompting authorities to stay on alert.

Possible Damage and Safety Concerns

With strong winds and non-stop rain, officials warn of damage to thatched houses, uprooting of trees, and power or communication disruptions. Low-lying areas and farmlands may face flooding as the system moves along the coast.

Authorities urge residents in vulnerable regions to stay indoors, follow official updates, and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
