"We are expecting five constituencies in the AIADMK alliance," Moorthy said, adding that the Puratchi Bharatham Party is confident of winning all the seats allotted to it. He also clarified that the party has no intention of contesting in general constituencies. "At present, there is no intention to contest in general constituencies; we will contest only in reserved constituencies," he stated.
He further expressed confidence that a government would be formed in Tamil Nadu in 2026 under Palaniswami's leadership.
Recalling the 2024 Parliamentary elections, Moorthy said the Puratchi Bharatham Party was disappointed at not being allotted any seats. However, he noted that AIADMK leaders had assured them that their concerns would be addressed during the Assembly elections.
Earlier today, AIADMK general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami met the BJP Tamil Nadu election in-charge and Union Minister Piyush Goyal in Chennai. The meeting has fuelled speculation about a possible National Democratic Alliance (NDA) understanding ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
According to sources, the discussions focused on election preparedness, organisational coordination and alliance strategy, with seat-sharing arrangements expected to be a key aspect of ongoing deliberations between AIADMK and the BJP. (ANI)
