Many drivers assume that simply having a FASTag is enough, but proper placement is just as important. The tag must be fixed on the inside of the front windshield. If it is not placed correctly or not detected by the scanner, you may be charged double the toll fee. This rule is meant to discourage misuse and ensure smooth movement of vehicles at toll plazas.

3. Reduced Toll During Road Work

Highway construction or expansion can slow down travel, but there is some relief for users. When a road is being upgraded, toll charges are usually reduced to 50 percent of the normal rate during the construction period. This helps balance the inconvenience caused by diversions, delays, and ongoing work on the road.

4. UPI Payment Is a Better Backup Option

If your FASTag is not working or you enter a toll lane without one, you will have to pay extra. Cash payments in such cases attract double the toll fee.
