House-to-House Survey and Document Preparation

Once an application is submitted, a house-to-house survey is conducted to verify eligibility. Surveyors may visit applicants’ homes for verification, so it is important to keep all documents ready. These include:

  • Copies of all uploaded documents from the application

  • Printed application form

  • Land ownership documents

  • Family income certificate

  • Even if not all documents are required during the survey, having them prepared allows the verification process to proceed quickly and efficiently.

    Financial Assistance and Benefits

The PMAY scheme provides financial aid to eligible families for house construction. Families owning land in their name can receive up to Rs 1.20 lakh, which is directly deposited into their bank account. Additional support may include subsidies and construction materials. The scheme benefits both rural residents under PMAY-G and urban dwellers under PMAY-U, making it a nationwide effort to provide permanent housing.

    Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for PMAY benefits, applicants must meet specific conditions:

    • Must be a permanent resident of India

    • Must currently live in a temporary or raw house

    • Government employees or income tax payers are not eligible

    • Must possess valid land documents

These conditions ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most.

    How to Apply for PMAY

Applying online is the fastest and most convenient method to avail of the scheme. The steps include:

    1. Visit the official PMAY website

    2. Select “Benefits on 3 Components” under Citizen Assessment

    3. Log in using Aadhaar and mobile OTP (or register if not already registered)

    4. Fill in the required information and upload the necessary documents and photographs

  • Enter the captcha code and submit the form

  • Note the Application ID for future reference

  • After a successful application, the survey process begins, and eligible applicants will be included in the Awas Yojana house list. Once the list is published, funds will be disbursed in three instalments to construct or purchase the house.

    Disbursal of Funds

Applicants who have already completed the process and appear in the PMAY list will soon receive their first instalment. The scheme ensures timely financial support for building permanent homes, with the next round of disbursals expected to start shortly.
