Gold and silver prices remained mostly unchanged in the domestic market on Wednesday, supported by steady wedding-season demand even as global cues stayed mixed. Both precious metals slipped marginally by ₹1,000, with gold priced at ₹1.57 lakh per 10 grams and silver at ₹2.53 lakh per kilogram, according to data from the India Bullions website.

Despite the minor dip, demand for physical gold continues to stay firm across jewellery hubs, driven by ongoing weddings and festive buying. Market participants note that while prices are high, consumer interest has not weakened significantly, helping prices remain stable.

International Markets Offer Support

In global markets, gold inched higher as weaker US retail sales data strengthened expectations that the US Federal Reserve could consider interest rate cuts later this year. Lower interest rates typically boost demand for non-yielding assets like gold. Spot gold rose 0.3% to $5,038.66 an ounce in early Asian trade, while silver climbed 0.6% to $81.3066 an ounce, reflecting cautious optimism among investors.

Analysts say gold is currently consolidating at elevated levels, supported by safe-haven demand and uncertainty around global economic growth. Silver, meanwhile, is drawing strength from both investment interest and industrial demand.

MCX Prices Remain Range-Bound

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for April slipped 0.2% to ₹1,56,539 per 10 grams, compared with Tuesday’s closing price of ₹1,56,803. Silver futures for March remained flat at ₹2,52,300 per kilogram, suggesting limited near-term volatility in domestic futures trading.
