Indian Railways Runs 89 Special Trains to Help Passengers After IndiGo Flight Cancellations

South Eastern Railway has actively communicated with the Airport Authority to display information on the new special train services at airports. Meanwhile, Western Railway is running seven special trains at special fares, covering important routes such as Mumbai Central to New Delhi, Mumbai Central to Bhiwani, and Bandra Terminus to Durgapura among others. This focused approach aims to connect high-demand areas affected by the IndiGo cancellations.


South Central Railway announced four special trains to help manage the passenger surge caused by IndiGo’s large-scale flight cancellations. Central Railway is operating 14 special trains, and Northern Railway has 10 planned special trains in place. Officials are continuously reviewing the situation and stand ready to add more trains if the demand increases. Other zones have also released notifications detailing their special train services and schedules to assist travelers.

All zones have been asked to make use of all available resources, including rolling stock as well as manpower, to safely operate these trains for the convenience of lakhs of passengers stranded at different parts of the country due to flight cancellations.”
