Purpose Of The Kantedar Tarbandi Yojana

The fencing support programme was launched by the state’s Agriculture Department on 21 July, 2017. The primary goal is to help farmers protect crops from damage caused by stray animals such as cattle or other grazing animals that frequently wander into farmland. In many rural areas, crop destruction due to animal intrusion is a recurring problem that directly impacts farm income.

Through this initiative, the government encourages farmers to install barbed wire fencing around their land. By creating a physical boundary around fields, farmers can significantly reduce the risk of crop loss and maintain better control over their agricultural activities.

Subsidy And Financial Assistance

Under the scheme, eligible farmers receive financial support covering half of the total fencing cost. The subsidy is limited to a maximum of ₹40,000 for fencing that extends up to 400 running metres. This financial assistance is designed to make protective infrastructure more affordable for farmers who might otherwise struggle to bear the full expense.

The subsidy is particularly helpful for small and medium-scale farmers who rely heavily on seasonal crops for their livelihood. By supporting the installation of fencing, the programme aims to reduce losses and increase confidence among farmers in maintaining productive farmland.

Eligibility Criteria For Farmers

To benefit from the scheme, applicants must meet certain eligibility conditions. Individual farmers or farmer groups should have at least 1.5 hectares of land in one location to qualify. In Scheduled Tribe regions, the minimum land requirement is reduced to 0.5 hectare to ensure wider access to the benefits.

The scheme also allows collective applications. If ten or more farmers join together and collectively own more than five hectares of land, they can apply as a group. This feature encourages cooperation among farmers and enables them to secure larger areas of farmland efficiently.

Documents Required For Application

Applicants must provide a few essential documents when applying for the scheme. These include an Aadhaar card and Jan Aadhaar card for identity verification. A copy of the Jamabandi document, not older than six months, is required as proof of land ownership. Farmers must also submit bank account details, usually through a passbook copy, to receive the subsidy amount directly.

These documents help ensure that the benefits reach genuine farmers and that the subsidy process remains transparent.

Application Process For The Scheme

Farmers can apply for the fencing support programme through both online and offline methods. Applications can be submitted through the RajKisan portal or at nearby e-Mitra centres.

The online process begins by visiting the official portal and logging into the system. After accessing the dashboard, farmers need to select the relevant option under the RAJ-KISAN section and proceed to the application entry request. Applicants must enter their Bhamashah ID or Jan Aadhaar ID to retrieve their details. Once the scheme name is selected, Aadhaar authentication is completed before filling in personal, bank, and verification details. Supporting documents are then uploaded, and the application is submitted online, after which a receipt is generated.
