Commercial LPG Hits Record High

The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has jumped by ₹993, taking it to an all-time high of ₹3,071.50. This isn’t a one-off spike, prices have been climbing steadily, with hikes of ₹195.50 in April and ₹114.50 in March. In just three months, the total increase stands at a steep ₹1,303.

Even smaller cylinders haven’t been spared. The 5-kg cylinder price has surged from ₹549 to ₹810.50, narrowing the gap with domestic LPG rates.

What About Domestic LPG?

For now, there’s no fresh increase in domestic LPG prices. However, the last revision in March saw a ₹60 hike in the 14.2-kg cylinder, hinting that households may not stay unaffected for long if global pressures continue.

How to Get LPG at ₹300 Less

There’s some relief for eligible households. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), beneficiaries receive a ₹300 subsidy on each 14.2-kg LPG cylinder, for up to nine refills a year. Those using smaller 5-kg cylinders get proportional benefits.

More Benefits Under Ujjwala Scheme

The scheme goes beyond just subsidies. Eligible families can get a new LPG connection without paying upfront. This includes the cylinder deposit, regulator, safety hose, and installation. Under Ujjwala 2.0, the first refill and stove are also provided free of cost, making the switch to LPG easier and more affordable.

While commercial LPG prices are soaring and putting pressure on businesses like hotels and restaurants, domestic users have a small cushion, for now. For many households, especially under the Ujjwala scheme, subsidies remain the key to managing rising fuel costs.
