Massive boat tragedy in Yamuna River: 10 pilgrims dead, 22 rescued

Lucknow: A horrific boat accident occurred today (April 10) afternoon in Vrindavan, Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh. A boat carrying over 30 devotees capsized near Keshi Ghat in the Yamuna River, resulting in the deaths of 10 pilgrims. Officials confirmed that 22 others on board were rescued.

Due to strong winds, the boat lost control and collided with a pillar of a pontoon bridge in the river. This caused the boat to overturn in the middle of the waters. Immediately following the incident, local divers rushed to the scene and managed to rescue more than 22 people. Currently, teams from the NDRF and SDRF are continuing search operations for any missing individuals.

Mathura District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh and DIG Shailesh Pandey are stationed at the site to oversee the situation.

Condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have expressed their deep condolences over the incident. The Chief Minister has ordered appropriate compensation for the families of the deceased and free medical treatment for those injured.
