Relentless monsoon rains have brought life to a standstill in North India, with floods, landslides, and waterlogging causing widespread devastation. Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and parts of Rajasthan are reeling under the impact, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh alerts for Delhi-NCR and neighbouring states.


Punjab: 23 Districts Declared Flood-Hit

Punjab is among the worst-affected states, with all 23 districts declared flood-hit.

  • 2,180 power transformers and 777 water supply schemes disrupted.
  • Worst-affected districts: Mandi, Shimla, Chamba, and Kullu.

Authorities are using heavy machinery to clear debris on key highways such as NH-03 and NH-05, but restoration remains slow.
