MP cops detain 18-year-old student from moving bus, frame him

In a shocking turn of events, the Malhargarh Police Station in Madhya Pradesh has come under fire after the state high court unearthed a fake drug case against an innocent student.

The victim, Sohan (18), was forcibly dragged off a moving bus on August 29 and later falsely accused of possessing 2.7kg opium.

He was produced in court the next day and sent to jail.

Evidence contradicts police claims, reveals illegal operation

However, CCTV footage and witness accounts contradicted the police's claims of a major narcotics arrest.

The footage showed no drugs or chase, only officers in plain clothes stopping the bus and dragging Sohan away.

His family approached the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on December 5, alleging illegal abduction and wrongful arrest.

Superintendent admits to illegal detention, suspends involved officers

During a hearing on Tuesday, Mandsaur Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Meena admitted Sohan was picked up by Malhargarh police.

He said the arrest recorded in the FIR didn't match video evidence.

The operation was orchestrated by a head constable and the case was registered after Sohan was already in illegal custody.

Meena also confirmed that the officers seen on the bus were earlier disowned by the police.

Legal experts anticipate strict action following court's findings

In light of this revelation, Meena suspended six policemen involved in the incident and ordered a departmental inquiry.

"The evidence collected from the spot shows the young man was empty-handed. However, according to the police report, he was detained with a bag containing 2.7 kg of opium...the CCTV footage presented to the court shows the police arresting him empty-handed," the bench observed.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, the high court reserved its order on the matter.
