The main launch event is being held at ESIC Medical College and Hospital. Along with Delhi, the programme is also being introduced simultaneously at 11 major ESIC hospitals nationwide in the presence of ministers and MPs.

Free Checkups for Workers Above 40

Under the new rules, workers aged 40 and above will now receive one free health checkup every year. This step is expected to help lakhs of employees identify health problems early without spending money on medical tests.

The initiative is especially important for workers who often avoid regular health screenings because of financial pressure or busy schedules.

Special Focus on Hazardous Jobs

Workers employed in risky industries will receive extra attention under the scheme. Employees handling chemicals, toxic substances, heavy machinery, or dangerous materials will be required to undergo regular medical examinations regardless of age.

The government believes that early monitoring can reduce serious workplace-related illnesses and improve long-term health outcomes.

Early Detection Can Save Lives

One of the biggest goals of the campaign is to detect diseases at an early stage. Regular screenings can help identify illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, respiratory problems, and lung diseases before they become severe.

Timely diagnosis will allow workers to receive faster treatment and reduce major health complications later in life.

Digital Health Records for Every Worker

The programme will also introduce systematic digital health records for workers. These records will help doctors track medical history more efficiently and provide better treatment in the future.

The digital system is expected to make healthcare support smoother and more organised under the ESIC framework.

New Labour Codes Expand Social Security

The reforms are part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Shramev Jayate” vision. The government has replaced 29 older labour laws with simplified labour codes designed to improve both business operations and worker welfare.

A major highlight of the Social Security Code, 2020 is the inclusion of unorganised workers, gig workers, and platform workers such as delivery executives under ESIC benefits for the first time.

A Healthier Workforce for a Stronger India

The government says many workers ignore small health issues until they become serious illnesses. By offering free annual screenings, the initiative aims to improve worker health, increase life expectancy, and build a stronger workforce.

Officials believe that a healthier working population will also support India’s long-term vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
