Newlywed Couple's Private Moment Illegally Filmed on Purvanchal Expressway; Toll Plaza Assistant Manager Fired
A serious case of misconduct has surfaced from the Purvanchal Expressway toll plaza in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The assistant manager of the anti-traffic management system has been accused of secretly recording obscene videos of travellers through CCTV cameras, extorting money from them, and even circulating the videos on social media. A complaint has been submitted to the Chief Minister, and both the complaint letter and the videos are now viral online.
The incident falls under the Haliapur police station area. The Purvanchal Expressway’s anti-traffic management system, installed at the toll plaza, monitors the entire expressway through CCTV cameras, overseen by three staff members. It is alleged that Ashutosh Vishwas, the assistant manager responsible for this system, misused his access by extracting intimate footage of people inside their vehicles and using it to blackmail them for large sums of money.
According to complainants, he also recorded videos of women and girls from villages near the expressway while they were defecating outdoors, and later leaked those recordings. He similarly filmed private moments of couples travelling on the expressway. Several of these videos have surfaced as evidence.
One such video involved a newly married couple. In the footage, the couple is seen kissing inside their car. Assistant manager Ashutosh Vishwas had reportedly zoomed in through the CCTV camera to capture the moment.
His actions not only violated the dignity and privacy of the public but also compromised the confidentiality and integrity of the anti-traffic management system. After complaints were filed with the Chief Minister on December 2, the issue went viral on social media, prompting action. Ashutosh Vishwas has now been terminated retroactively. His dismissal order is dated November 30.
