Digital Identity for Farmers: The Farmer ID

The government is creating a digital identity for every farmer, called the Farmer ID. Think of it like an Aadhaar card for farmers. This ID will store all information related to land and farming in one place, making it easier to track benefits. The upcoming PM Kisan instalment will be disbursed based on this Farmer ID. If you don’t have one, your payment may be delayed.

Instalment Timeline

  • 22nd Instalment: Expected by first week of March 2026
  • 23rd Instalment: Likely by July 2026
  • 24th Instalment: Expected by end of November 2026
The funds will be transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), so having your Farmer ID ready is crucial.

Why You Need a Farmer ID

A Farmer ID comes with multiple benefits:
  • Easier access to subsidies like fertilizers
  • No repeated visits to government offices
