Ration Card Holders Alert: Complete This Task by January 31 or Lose Wheat and Rice

Newspoint
The Food Department has issued a crucial update for ration card holders across the country. To make the Public Distribution System (PDS) more transparent and error-free, the government has made e-KYC compulsory for beneficiaries receiving free wheat and rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana . Missing this step could lead to removal of names from ration cards.

January 31 Is the Final Deadline

As per the latest guidelines, e-KYC verification of every family member listed on the ration card is mandatory and must be completed by January 31. Aadhaar linking and biometric verification are required for all members. Failure to comply may result in suspension of ration benefits.

Why e-KYC Matters

This move aims to clean up the system by removing ineligible or duplicate beneficiaries. In many cases, ration cards still carry names of people who have shifted, are no longer eligible, or have passed away. Biometric verification ensures that free food grains reach only genuine and deserving households.

What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?

If e-KYC is not completed on time, the names of unverified members may be deleted from the ration card. This will reduce the family’s monthly ration quota and may even stop the supply altogether for those not verified.

How to Complete e-KYC Easily

The process is quick and hassle-free:
  • Visit your nearest government ration shop
  • Carry your ration card and Aadhaar cards of all family members
  • Complete biometric verification using the machine available at the shop

Complete your e-KYC before the deadline to ensure uninterrupted access to free ration benefits.
