Big Update: Ration Card Holders to Get Kerosene from This Month
Amid concerns over LPG shortages, residents of Chhattisgarh have received a timely boost. The state government has decided to provide kerosene to ration card holders under the Public Distribution System (PDS), offering much-needed support for daily cooking needs.
Kerosene Allocation for April 2026
The Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection has earmarked 528 kilolitres of kerosene for April. This supply comes from the central government’s allocation for the April–June quarter, ensuring immediate relief for households affected by the gas crunch.
Who Will Benefit?
The scheme targets ration card holders under Antyodaya and priority categories. Distribution will take place through fair price shops across the state, making access simple and local.
Smooth Distribution Plan
To avoid delays and shortages, the state has issued strict instructions to district collectors. They must ensure timely lifting and distribution of kerosene while also spreading awareness so beneficiaries know their eligibility.
In areas where demand is low, unused stock will be shifted to locations with higher demand. This smart redistribution plan is aimed at preventing wastage and ensuring equal access.
Important Deadline
All allocated kerosene for April must be lifted and distributed by April 30, 2026. Oil companies have also been directed to report any unused quotas by the same date, ensuring accountability in the system.
What This Means for Households
With this move, the government is stepping in to bridge the gap created by LPG shortages. The added kerosene supply will help families manage essential cooking needs without disruption, especially in rural and low-income households.
This initiative not only brings relief but also reflects a focused effort to strengthen the PDS and support vulnerable communities during supply challenges.
