The Railway Board aims to operate a total of 12 Vande Bharat Sleeper trains nationwide by 2026, each with advanced technology, improved passenger amenities, and safer travel features.
Emergency and VIP Quotas
In a recent update, the Railway Board introduced an emergency quota (YIP quota) for premium trains, including Vande Bharat Sleeper and Amrit Bharat Express. This quota addresses urgent travel needs such as medical emergencies, government duties, family crises, or critical official work.
Vande Bharat Sleeper: 4-6 berths in AC-1, 20-30 in AC-2, and 24-42 in AC-3 are reserved for emergency purposes.
Amrit Bharat Express: 24 berths per train in sleeper class are reserved on trains with seven or more sleeper coaches.
These emergency berths remain unoccupied until the train chart is prepared. If no requests are received, they are allocated to general passengers on the waiting list, ensuring maximum efficiency and fairness.
