Viral Video Shows Frustrated Air India Passengers Banging Bin Doors And Yelling Over 5-Hour Delay

Originally scheduled for an 8:25 AM departure, the plane remained grounded for nearly five hours at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. As temperatures rose—both literally and figuratively—passengers reported suffocating conditions due to a malfunctioning air conditioning system. A viral video shared by an onboard passenger shows a heated exchange, with one individual banging the overhead bin and others voicing their frustration.

“We don’t trust you,” a passenger said, while another added, “Open the door.” The captain can be heard responding, “Airplane jack needs to be connected, please understand.” However, this did little to calm the increasingly agitated flyers.

At around 1 PM, passengers were finally deboarded. The flight eventually took off at 4:32 PM, over eight hours later than its scheduled time.

On Instagram, a passenger described the experience as "horrible," slamming the lack of communication and inaction by the crew. “Truly not the kind of experience we expected from an airline owned by one of the most accountable business houses @tata_trusts. The captain not once came out of the cockpit to address the passengers to assuage the situation but only waited inside untill passengers lost their calm after 5 hours waiting patiently,” they wrote, calling out the airline for failing to meet expectations under the Tata-owned management.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage online, with many questioning Air India’s handling of the situation and urging better communication and support for passengers during such delays.
