According to officials, nearly 1.7 lakh Form 6 applications for adding new voters were received by the deadline. The Election Commission has already started processing the forms submitted within the timeline so that eligible applicants can be included in the updated voter list.

Large Number of Applications Received

During the voter list revision drive under SIR, citizens were allowed to submit different forms for adding, deleting, or correcting names in the electoral roll.

By March 6, the administration received:
  • 4,313 applications for deletion of names
  • 33,547 applications for corrections or amendments
  • Around 1.7 lakh applications for adding new voters
Officials say all these applications are currently under review. The corrections and additions will reflect in the final voter list scheduled for release on April 10.

What Happens After April 10?

Once the updated voter list is published, the authorities will begin processing applications submitted after March 6. This means late applicants will still have a chance to be included, but their forms will be reviewed only after the final list is issued.

How to Apply for Voter Registration

Young citizens who have turned 18 and want to become voters can obtain Form 6 from their local Booth Level Officer (BLO). After filling out the form, applicants must attach the required documents and submit it to the BLO.

Officials clarified that Aadhaar card will not be accepted as proof of age. Instead, applicants can submit documents such as:
  • High school certificate
  • Hospital birth certificate
  • Other valid age-proof documents

Hearings for Unmapped Voters Continue

Meanwhile, hearings related to notices issued to voters whose details were not mapped under SIR will continue until March 27. During this period, Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and BLOs are collecting forms and conducting verification.

Hearings are being held across blocks and tehsils in the district to resolve pending cases.

Officials Assure Voting Rights

Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Nitish Kumar Singh stated that every eligible citizen will be given the right to vote. He added that the Election Commission is continuously working to ensure that all valid applications are processed.

Once the final voter list is released on April 10, the authorities will start reviewing and processing the applications received after March 6.
